Here at Playful Promises, a lot of time and effort goes into bringing our collections to life. Our team works incredibly hard on everything from the design process to conceptualising photoshoots to show our pieces in the most creative way possible. We want to take you behind the curtain and show you how we brought our wonderful Western collection with the beautiful Beauty Spock to you!
Our design team knew that Bettie Page Lingerie was missing a touch of Cowgirl chic and set out to create a collection that embodied all things rodeo realness. This resulted in the creation of Adelaide, Beatrix, Billie, Etta, Florence, Mabel and Melda! All inspired by the rootin’ tootin’ styles of the wild West, these pieces combine retro glamour with a rodeo twist. The team also wanted to include our signature Solar and Champagne styles in this collection - some of our bestselling Bettie favourites!
When it came to choosing a campaign star, nobody was going to fit the brief like Beauty Spock. Frances O’Sullivan is an Instagram superstar best known for her ethereal makeup looks and larger than life shoots, including stunning homages to her favourite classic films and decadent costumes to reimagined versions of historical figures, Frances is well and truly iconic.
Our in-house photographer Giulia had a vision from the get go: two Western themed backdrops, one to represent dawn and another to represent dusk, complete with handmade props to really amp up the camp! Creating paper mache cacti and paper rocks was a time consuming process but ultimately one that massively paid off. Giulia’s detailed account of her mission to create the perfect set can be found on our TikTok page, along with plenty more behind the scenes footage from our shoot.
Once the shoot day came, our dream team got straight down to work. Giulia’s photography and Anna’s art direction combined to create one our biggest and best shoots yet! Beauty Spock had styled her wigs to give that ultimate Bettie look, with amped up volume and drama. Before we knew it, launch day came around, with you guys flooding our comments with just as much excitement as we’d hoped! Our best-selling item by far was the stunning Billie set - a gorgeous fringed cape and girdle with mesh accents and a spiderweb-esque design, our followers went buck wild!
